Does retreating end your turn?
If you retreat, you can still attack that turn with your new Active Pokémon. Some Pokémon have special Abilities they can use. Many of them can be used before you attack.
What happens if you have no energy in Pokémon?
If you “run out of energy” means it’s all in your discard pile, then there are cards like energy retrieval, fisherman, and special charge to name a few to get your discarded energy back out of your discard pile and into your deck or hand depending on the card.
Are Energy cards discarded?
You have to have the required amount of Energy attached to a Pokémon to use its attack, but you don’t have to discard those cards to attack. The cards stay attached to your Pokémon unless the card says otherwise!
Does retreating a Pokémon remove damage?
Keep all damage counters and all attached cards with each Pokémon when they switch. Pokémon that are Asleep or Paralyzed cannot retreat. When your Active Pokémon goes to your Bench (whether it retreated or got there some other way), some things do go away—Special Conditions and any effects from attacks.
Can you retreat with no energy?
You can attach any type of energy you want to the retreating Pokémon. If there are no * symbols, then that Pokémon doesn’t need any energy in order to retreat; it can retreat anytime for free!

Technically, any pokemon can use any basic energy. The pokemon type has nothing to do with which energy it can use. The only thing that matters is the attack cost. A colorless energy attack cost can be satisfied with any energy type.
Can you take Pokémon off your bench?
You can scoop up an active then move whichever benched Pokemon you want into the active.
