What’s the point of transferring Pokemon?
Transfering to the Professor is a way of permanently removing a Pokemon from your inventory. In exchange for a transfer, the Professor will give you some Candies, that can be used to power up and evolve a Pokemon.

Should I transfer all my low CP Pokemon?
Yes, I recommend always transferring low-level Pokemon except for the following cases: You only have one of that Pokemon. I like to have one of each so I can have a “living Pokedex” You have enough candies to evolve that Pokemon (even when you evolve starting from high-CP).
What Pokemon Cannot be transferred?
You’re unable to transfer multiple Shiny Pokémon, Lucky Pokémon, or Buddy Pokémon with whom you’ve reached Good Buddy status or above at a time. Additionally, certain Legendary and some Mythical Pokémon (e.g. Mew, Celebi) are not able to be selected for transfer.
Do you lose candy if you transfer all Pokemon?
Yes you do. All candies you have are stored kinda invisibly on your character and the only way to see them is by selecting a Pokemon of the evolution chain. If you get rid of all of the Pokemon in that chain you will keep the candies but be unable to see them until you catch another of that chain.
Can I get back a Pokemon I accidentally transferred?
You’ll receive Candy in exchange for transferring a Pokémon, but be careful: you can’t get Pokémon back after you’ve transferred them.
Can two Pokemon merge?
Yes. In Pokémon GO, you can choose what Pokémon HOME account you’ll transfer Pokémon to by linking to a Nintendo Account that is also linked to the desired Pokémon HOME account.
