Is Holloman AFB a good base?
Holloman is not nearly as bad as what people make it out to be. There’s plenty of outdoors activities. Cloudcroft and Ruidoso are quite nice and a fairly short drive away. El Paso and Las Cruces have more nightlife and those are an hour to 1.5 hours away.
