Kingsley Lake is an almost perfectly circular lake of about 2,000 acres (810 ha) in North Central Florida, about six miles (9.7 km) east of Starke, Florida. According to some sources, it is the oldest and highest lake in Florida, located on the edge of the Trail Ridge formation.
Why is Kingsley Lake perfectly round?
In 1955, the full 72,000 acres were deeded to the Florida National Guard. Many of the military training exercises since 1939 have been carried out with the use of aircraft. These fliers who saw the lake from the air named it “The Silver Dollar Lake” due to the sun’s reflection on its perfect circular shape.

The lake is famous for activities such as water skiing, fishing and swimming. The waters are clear and there are 5.5 miles of shoreline. Watch out for snakes and the occasional alligator. There are restaurants, shops and meeting rooms nearby to meet any needs you may have.
