Is detect a priority move?
Detect prevents any attacks targeted at the user from striking, for the duration of the turn. It has priority +4 so will activate before most other moves. The move functions identically to Protect.
Why is detect better than protect?
There is NO meaningful difference between Detect and Protect – Detect is just a fighting type while Protect is a normal type (and has more pp). Their effects are exactly the same, through different Pokemon may not be able to learn one, bu are able to learn the other.

Is Helping Hand a priority move?

Why does detect exist?
The original purpose for Detect might’ve been for it to not to be hit by these attacks, and be the “Ultimate Protection.” Purely a guess, but it seems like the only logical reason behind the existence of such an attack.

Is substitute a priority move?
Nope, Substitute doesn’t have any priority, which is a very good thing. This allows a slow Pokemon to use it, then use Focus Punch the next turn without fear of nothing happening.
Does Trick have priority?
