Is bulk up a good move?
Bulk Up boosts both your parties defense the same way harden/barrier does and ALSO boosts their attack – pretty significantly. I went from averaging a 4:30 completion time for the 36,500 level to averaging about 3:00 just by switching from Barrier Alakazam to Bulk Up Machamp.

Is bulk up a good move for blaziken?
Bulk Up is, in my opinion, the better overall move as the dual boost to Torchic’s (Combusken/Blaziken) physical stats is generally superior to a higher CH ratio. Overheat…is another judgment call. If you do teach Torchic Overheat, at least half of its total moveset should not use the Special Attack stat.

Generally unless your defenses are awesome, Swords Dance is better than Bulk Up just like Nasty Plot is “better” than Calm Mind in the vast majority of situations.

Machop can learn Bulk Up, yes. In fact, I just kept farming the recipe in advanced pots to get a high-level one with Bulk Up that I could just level twice to make into Machamp with minimal stress.
