What country will the next Pokémon region be based on?
Gen 9 needs to be the biggest yet. The Pokemon series has taken inspiration from all around the globe. While the Kanto region of Gen 1 was based on the actual Kanto prefecture in Japan, the inspiration has been more loose in subsequent games.
Is hoenn based on Kyushu?
It is the setting of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire. It was the third core series region to be introduced. Hoenn is inspired by the real-world Japanese main island of Kyushu.
Is Unova based on New York?
The game’s Unova region is based on New York State, with Cestelia City its stand-in for Lower Manhattan. Moreover, a lot of the Pokémon that were native to the region took their inspiration from different aspects of the city.
