How do you get raids to spawn in a sword?

Beyond the available raids, when you enter the Wild Area, you will encounter many inactive Pokémon dens. These seem empty to you. All you have to do is put a piece of a Wishing Piece on it and a raid will be triggered.
How often do raids happen in Pokemon sword?
All Max Raid reset at 00:00 every day. Changing the Nintendo Switch internal clock will not change when Max Raids reset. All Max Raids will reset, even ones you’re farming. It’s a full 24 hour interval if there are raids you want to clear and don’t want to (or can’t) complete.

How do you know if Max raid is Gigantamax?
You can fairly easily tell if a Raid features a Gigantamax Pokemon by its silhouette when you interact with a raid den; if the silhouette looks different than the Pokemon’s typical sprite, then you’ll be battling its Gigantamax form.
