What happens when you get all the hearts for your buddy?
By earning Affection hearts, you increase your Buddy Level. Your Buddy Level measures of the depth of your relationship with your Buddy Pokémon. By improving your buddy’s Mood and reaching higher Buddy Levels, you’ll unlock special perks as recognition of the meaningful bond you’ve created with your buddy.
What happens when you max out your buddy in Pokemon go?

Walking together gives up four hearts. For every 2km that trainers walk with their buddy, they’re awarded one heart. Replacing a buddy will reset any progress made towards the next heart, but it does not reset earning candy in Pokemon Go. Giving the buddy a treat gives up to four hearts.

The top five most used buddy Pokémon are Magikarp, Gyarados, Noibat, Mewtwo, and Eevee. Of these Pokémon, Noibat is the most recent to be released, and it overtook both Magikarp and Gyarados despite those Pokémon both being in the game at launch.
How long does a Poffin last?
By giving a Pokémon a Poffin, the Pokémon will stay by your side on the Map longer (6 hours). By giving a Pokémon berries, the Pokémon will only stay for 3 hours.
